National Day Of Unplugging: March 7-8, 2014
So, that's why I'll be particiating in the National Day of Unplugging on March 7-8. And, while it's technically sundown to sundown, my goal is to unplug the entire two days.
Unplug From What?
I'll be unplugging from screens. So, there will be
- no television
- no iPods
- no iPhones
- no laptops
- no computers
- no Kindles
I'll also be bringing the kids along with me. I think that children today are definitely exposed to way too much technology than necessary, and I truly believe it can be detrimental to their development. The hubby is also more than welcome to join us on this crazy ride, but I'm certainly not making him.
I'm Looking Forward To
- playing outside with the kids
- listening more
- being present
This year will be the third year I'll be officially competing in an unplugging challenge. In 2012, the idea of unplugging for a Screen-Free Week seemed like a novel idea. In 2013, a National Day of Unplugging seemed like something that was definitely needed. Now, in 2014, I realize that a day of unplugging is an absolute necessity. We live in a time where information is everywhere, and, now more than ever, it is incredible important to just shut it all down. Experience life without so many distractions. Look at the world around you. Live in the present.
