Today started out great. I got out of bed, slapped on some foundation, and was ready to tackle the day. I had some cereal for breakfast, and packed my 1st grader's lunch. (The school's grilled-cheese-that-comes-in-a-plastic-bag isn't one of his favorites.)

Fast forward to 2 hours later. I was frantically trying to get Baby B to bed, who has been unusually fussy lately due to some teeth coming in when my iPod started blowing up like crazy...

Getting puked on is a fairly normal occurrence as the mother of a 6-month-old, one that often requires an outfit change. And, that reminded me - I had to do laundry because I was just about out of non-puked-on clothes. I decide to rock the baby to bed... still is my puked-on clothes. She got about an hour of sleep in before this happened...

I love visiting Ken during lunch, and it doesn't happen very often. I thought of showing up to my husband's work in my torn, puked on jeans. The conversation my hubby had with a co-worker a few weeks ago kept running through my head. They were eating lunch at Chipotles when a new mom wearing sweats and no makeup caught their attention. His co-worker shook his head in disgust, saying he didn't know why women did that. I shook my head at his co-worker's ignorance. Thankfully, hubby stuck up for that mama.

Still, not wanting to be "that mom", I manage to slip on some skinny jeans, slap on some lipstick, and even brush my hair. Hey, it's been a few days.

Lunch goes great, but on the way home, Baby B is screaming and crying. She was beyond tired. :(

We get home, Baby B finally goes to sleep... until some solicitor rings the doorbell. My dog is barking, I've got a newly-awoken baby on my hip, and all I hear is something about "... your neighbors are interested... basement...". I don't know what the hell he wants, but I quickly snip at him that we're good.

Except we're not good. He just woke up my tired baby, and we need to leave in less than 45 minutes to take my son to taekwondo practice... who should be home any minute.

And, yet, when hubby comes home and asks me how my day was, I genuinely tell him it was great. Because it was. I think of how Baby B went potty 4 times that day... of how I was able to do a complete blog redesign while holding Baby B during her naps. I think of how my preschooler is learning so much on her new laptop. I think about the smell of eucalyptus in the air from my new diffuser, and I smile. It really was a great day.

And, then I see this Sick just got real.™ ad that totally nails it. This scene easily plays out in our house 3 nights a week... though the requests are usually for junk food!
